Mina Kawahara

Mina Kawahara

Mina Kawahara (She/They) is a PhD candidate at TDPS, as well as an actor, singer, songwriter and instrumentalist.

She is originally from Japan. She holds a B.F.A. in musical theatre from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, an M.A. in theatre from Villanova University and an M.F.A. in musical theatre from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music. Their acting/directing credits include productions at Arden Theatre Company, Ars Nova, People’s Light Theatre & Co., Theatre Horizon and 1812 Productions.

Her dissertation project regards Queer Asian representation in Contemporary American Musical Theatre. Her teaching interests include Musical Theater, Asian American Theatre History, Queer Studies and Digital Studies.
